Spring break came and went

We opened in February and now April is almost over. I do not know where the time is going. I have been busily filling the shelves with more and more math, culture, and language work. It is amazing to see how fast the children absorb the work and then they are ready for more.
School ends in about a month. Will I cry? Yes! I cry at the end of every school year. I think I may cry even harder when this year is up. It was a short year and it's the end of my first "year" in my own room.
Time flies.....
I am also busy getting ready for our first annual family fun day. It's going to be great! There will be food vendors, car seat cleaning, jewelry vendors, balloon artists, a thirty-one vendor, an origami owl vendor, a pink zebra vendor, an avon vendor, a henna tattoo artist , zumba for kids and more!
I can't wait!

Here are some updated classroom pictures.

Family fun day

I couldn't be more excited! I am planning our first annual family fun day for May 31. It's going to be great! Crafts, activities, entertainment, vendors and more. I really think that it's going to be a big hit and I look forward to doing it every year.
If you were going to attend a family fun day, what would you like to see?

New practical life and art pictures

It was time. The practical life and art shelves were barely being touched. That means time to change materials around. I think it's so great that children will easily let you know when it's time for a change, they will stop using it! They just stop. They stay away from the shelves as if it say "Please, I am done with this. I have used it and used it. I have used it and I am ready for something else now. Thank you."
I love kids.

I would anticipate that paint will be a big hit.

I love this. The cups have a marble then paint will go in. The child will put a sheet of paper in the box. Then the drop the marbles in and tilt the box around to paint on the paper.

Hole punching. I got this idea off of Pinterest. Have you found any great art ideas lately?

The revamped water side of practical life. Still some spots open, any great ideas?

A little help.....

Today I blog because I am asking a favor. Charlotte Parent Magazine is having their readers vote for their favorites. Favorite stores, Doctors, preschools......
If you wouldn't mind taking the time to vote for The Montessori Schoolhouse it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you and thanks for reading.

It was amazing!

Today I gave a lesson on color mixing. Her eyes were glued to the work and she called it "amazing". I love my job! I am really blessed to teach using the Montessori philosophy. I can't imagine doing anything else.  Setting up the prepared environment, making materials, and the actual act of teaching are such a joy.

The next 3 pictures are from new initial sound work that I put out today. This was a big hit.

This is the box that I am going to use for secret words. This lesson has not been shown yet.

I put out a chalkboard in the language area.

I also put out a dry erase board in the language area.

Part purchased, party homemade 100s board.

The shelves in March

What do your shelves look like in March. There are only about 3 months left in the school year. It's strange because my school year just started. I am still surprised at how fast they fill up and soon they will start to empty again.....
I added a homemade moveable alphabet, I'm also working on a 100s board. I also added color mixing today.

I bought eye dropper bottles and I am putting them to good use already.

More and more materials are going out

The shelves are filling up quickly. I forgot how great it is to make materials, and to change them around also. I love practical life. Changing out materials from red, pink, and purple to mainly green has been fun. What have you added or changed around recently? There is nothing like preparing that environment. Here are some more pictures.

I love this duster. It's really soft and appealing.

Here is one of the practical life areas. Looks like spring is coming!
