The shelves are filling up quickly. I forgot how great it is to make materials, and to change them around also. I love practical life. Changing out materials from red, pink, and purple to mainly green has been fun. What have you added or changed around recently? There is nothing like preparing that environment. Here are some more pictures.
I love this duster. It's really soft and appealing.
Here is one of the practical life areas. Looks like spring is coming!
Well, The Montessori Schoolhouse is officially open! We also have a student! It's all very exciting. My hope is that we get a few more students soon. Our next open house is on the 22nd, I can't wait. Here are some pictures.
Tomorrow is the day! Our first open house with the second one on Saturday. I am so excited. I was in the room today making sure that everything is as perfect as it can be. Of course, I already did some rearranging. That will happen here and there during the school year. The prepared environment gets shuffled around as the need arrises.
Here are some more pictures. Let me know what you think.
Winter themed books for the library. Of course it's 70 degrees today....
The room is set and ready. I'm heading in tomorrow to make sure it is as perfect as it can be. I was interviewed yesterday for our local newspaper! I am so excited. I owe this reporter a lot, he has been so supportive since I started this journey back in September. I can't wait to see the article tomorrow. I hope it helps with open house attendance.
Nervous, nervous, nervous but yes, excited too!
Last week we had a major snowstorm. It had delayed the opening of the class by one week. I couldn't get out of my house for 4 days so I spent this weekend in the classroom. It is cleaned out, set up, stuff hung, and materials are on the shelves. Now it's those last minute details of paperwork and advertising to work on.
I'm exhausted but it's that good kind of exhausted.
Anyone have great advertising ideas?
Let me know what you think of the room. I did have lots of fun setting it up.
I think these curtains add a great pop of color.
How cute is the library area? The picture is hung on the wall now.
The Art Easel. One side is dry erase and the other is chalk. I will also hang paper on it for painting.
I have always wanted to have my own school. I knew that this dream would never come true. Well, never say never. Through an amazing string of circumstances, my dream landed in my lap. On the 24th of this month I will open a 1/2 day Montessori class. I couldn't be more excited, thrilled, and nervous.
One roadblock so far, snow. Lots and lots of snow and ice has arrived. I was going to open class on the 17th. As soon as I am able to actually get to the classroom I have to start setting up, fast. It will be a lot of work in a short amount of time. It is a great space, a very large open room with lots of possibilities.
I will post my progress here. I can't wait to post updates and pictures about The Montessori Schoolhouse!
Hello all! Sorry that I have been away for so long. I have been on vacation. Now it's time for unpacking, laundry, and for getting the kids back in school mode.
Hopefully soon I will be back announcing something very exciting! I can't say anything now but when I can, trust me you will hear all about it!
How have you all been? What's new and exciting in the world of Montesssori?
